This December Yo-Yo Ma makes two United States solo recital appearances in the Pacific Northwest, highlighting contemporary works alongside the Cello Suites of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Ma performs on December 8 in Seattle, Washington at Meany Hall for the Performing Arts and on December 9 in Portland, Oregon at Schnitzer Concert Hall, playing the Allegretto from Ahmed Adnan Saygun’s Partita, Mark O’Connor’s Appalachia Waltz and Zhao Jiping’s Summer in the High Grassland with Bach’s First, Second, and Sixth Cello Suites.
The December solo recitals are framed by performances of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with Tania Miller and the Victoria Symphony on December 7 and Danail Rachev and the Eugene Symphony Orchestra on December 11.
