Science, like art, can open windows, often allowing us to transcend physical distances or look far into the past. Scientists in Bolzano, Italy are using modern crime scene investigation techniques to solve a particularly “cold” case: the murder of Ötzi the iceman, who died sometime around 3300 B.C. How did Ötzi die? Who killed him, and with what motive? What was Ötzi’s last meal? Scientists can answer an astounding number of questions about this Copper Age mummy.
