This May, Yo-Yo Ma guests with orchestras across North America in concerts that stretch from the American West Coast to Canada.
Ma solos in Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra led by Bramwell Tovey (May 1), with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra conducted by Carl St. Clair (May 5), and with the Quad City Symphony directed by Mark Russell Smith (May 14).
With the Seattle Symphony on May 3, the American cellist performs Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor, led by Ludovic Morlot. On May 13, Ma guests with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in two works by Tchaikovsky: Variations on a Rococo Theme and Andante Cantabile.
To round out his orchestral performances of the season, Ma appears with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for Elgar’s Cello Concerto, conducted by Sir Andrew Davis on May 29.
