Yo-Yo Ma’s spring recital performances begin on April 29 in Denver, Colorado, where the American cellist presents a solo program comprising Bach’s First, Second, and Sixth Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, as well as works by Ahmed Saygun and Mark O’Connor.
On May 17, the CSO Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant returns to Symphony Center for a chamber recital with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The program includes Ravel’s Chansons madécasses and Sonata for Violin and Cello, as well as Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. Ma and his CSO colleagues will also give the world premiere performance of a new work by Matthew Aucoin.
Then on June 5, Yo-Yo Ma opens the 34th Annual Rockport Chamber Music Festival with a solo recital that pairs Bach’s First and Third Cello Suites with Saygun’s Partita and George Crumb’s Sonata for Solo Cello.
