On August 7, 2015, Yo-Yo Ma joins the Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Stéphane Denève for Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Ma’s summer season also includes four performances at the Tanglewood Festival, beginning with an August 2 performance of Strauss’s Don Quixote with Andris Nelsons, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and BSO principal violist Steven Ansell.
On August 6, Ma reunites with Emanuel Ax and violinist Leonidas Kavakos for an all-Brahms program at Seiji Ozawa Hall. And for the second time in their performance history at Tanglewood, Ma and Ax will perform the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas on August 9.
In a special event on August 13, Ma joins fellow cellists Mike Block, Monika Leskovar, Giovanni Sollima, and the Boston Cello Quartet for an Ozawa Hall program entitled A Distant Mirror, exploring the musical worlds and contemporary resonances of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Following his summer performances at Tanglewood, Ma embarks on a European tour with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, beginning August 25 at the Salzburger Festspiele with Andris Nelsons and violist Steven Ansell, featuring Strauss’s Don Quixote.
Ma’s performances with the BSO continue on August 31 at the Lucerne Festival and on September 3 at the Philharmonie de Paris.
