Yo-Yo Ma joins the Philadelphia Orchestra for performances of John Williams’s Cello Concerto on April 28, 29, 30 & May 1.
The concerts at Verizon Hall are led by conductor Stéphane Denève and are part of a two-week celebration of Williams’s music for the concert hall and screen. Also on the program is Williams’s Tributes! For Seiji, Debussy’s “Clouds” and “Festivals” from Nocturnes and Mussorgsky’s Pictures from an Exhibition.
In 2002 Ma recorded an album of the music of John Williams, including the American composer’s Cello Concerto. Listen to the album here.
